Steel City Surge as Rodgers and Warren Ignite Offense in Victory Over Indy

October 12, 2026 2 min read

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a resounding statement at Acrisure Stadium this week, dismantling the Indianapolis Colts 34-22 to move their record to 3-2. In a performance defined by efficiency and explosiveness, the Steelers managed to tear through a Colts defense that had been stingy in recent outings. While the victory provides much needed momentum, the game served as a revealing snapshot of where the roster currently stands, highlighting several rising stars and some concerning gaps in depth.

At the center of the surge is Aaron Rodgers, who looks increasingly like the maestro of this offense. For the first time since late 2021, Rodgers has recorded three consecutive games with at least three touchdowns, starting Sunday’s contest with a perfect eleven completions. His precision paved the way for others to shine, most notably running back Jaylen Warren. Warren continues his breakout campaign, securing another hundred yard scrimmage outing highlighted by an eighty yard catch and run and a fifty yard touchdown sprint in the third quarter. Together with tight end Pat Freiermuth, who now sits tied for the league lead in receiving scores among his position with four, these playmakers are transforming how Pittsburgh attacks defenses.

However, it wasn’t entirely smooth sailing for every member of the squad. Despite leading the team in receiving yards with eighty four, rookie Germie Bernard’s emergence came amidst a worrying trend regarding wide receiver health. With Michael Pittman Jr. already sidelined and both Roman Wilson and Ben Skrownek leaving the game due to injuries during the first half, the Steelers find themselves dangerously thin on the perimeter. This lack of stability may force management to look toward external additions if they want to avoid relying solely on makeshift solutions.

While some stocks rose, others dipped under the bright lights of Sunday afternoon. Star receiver DK Metcalf remained largely invisible throughout the clash, managing only twenty three yards across three receptions following pre game tensions with opposing defenders. Meanwhile, expectations remain unmet for specialist Kaden Wetjen; despite being an early day three selection, he has yet to provide any meaningful spark on special teams returns. As Pittsburgh moves forward from this convincing win, they possess a dangerous core offensive identity but must address their fragility at receiver to maintain this trajectory.
